How to Measure and Choose Ready-Made Curtains

Ready-made curtains fit best when you measure the installed pole or track, understand the heading, and check the exact product dimensions and pack contents before ordering.

Before measuring

  • Identify whether the curtain will hang from a pole or a track.
  • Check the product heading. Eyelet curtains thread onto a compatible pole; tape headings use suitable hooks or gliders and compatible hardware.
  • Decide where you want the finished curtain to end.

Measure the width

Measure the installed pole or track from side to side rather than measuring only the window glass. The product's stated width must then be interpreted with its heading and pack contents. Because listings can differ, confirm whether the selected product is supplied as a single curtain, a pair or another configuration.

Measure the drop

The drop is the vertical distance from the relevant hanging point to the desired finished bottom. The correct starting point depends on the heading and hardware, so use the specific product instructions where supplied. Measure in centimetres and compare with the listed drop.

Choose the heading and finish

Eyelet and tape headings create different hanging arrangements and require compatible hardware. If a listing describes lining, self-lining, fabric composition or care, treat those details as specific to that product rather than to the whole collection.

Final order check

  1. Recheck pole or track width and desired drop.
  2. Confirm heading compatibility.
  3. Read the exact width, drop and pack quantity.
  4. Contact OHS before ordering if the panel or pair convention is unclear.
